| Meet the Buyer |
MVV and its partners would like to thank everyone who visited us during the Industry and Employment Day on 19th October.
Subject to receiving planning permission MVV will start construction of an Energy from Waste with Combined Heat and Power plant at HM Naval Base, Devonport in 2012.
The event was held to give local and regional businesses the chance to showcase their goods and services to MVV and its sub-contractors. There were also a wide range of employment opportunities on offer, which attracted jobseekers from around the region. More than 150 people attended the event. MVV and its partners were not only delighted by this high number of attendees but also by the high quality of discussions.
This is what attendees thought of the event
Mark Austin from Kier, MVV’s civils contractor
"The event was very useful for us. The quality of the discussions we had with local businesses and people looking for jobs was high and we welcomed this opportunity to be able to talk to local suppliers and support local employment."
John Wade, Construction Director of MVV Environment Devonport Ltd
"If the scheme gets the go-ahead in December we need to be putting plans in place now to be able to deliver this project on time. This event was an excellent opportunity to do just that and we were very pleased both with the turnout and the quality of services on offer."
Richard Thomas of the Federation of Small Businesses and Plymouth Procurement Forum
"I was delighted to attend the event and to see the hard work MVV and its partners are putting into engagement with the local supply chain. To have managers of a project of this size and calibre looking to work with the local economy in this way shows a depth of vision and is just what Plymouth needs right now."
Sharon Crick, Branch Manager at Hunters Personnel in Plymouth
"We were delighted to attend MVV’s Industry and Employment Day. It was very informative and a great opportunity to meet with other local businesses and MVV’s partners. The event gave us insight into the great opportunities that will be available if planning permission is granted and we found MVV to be a very pro-active and forward-thinking company who are committed to Plymouth and to investing in local people and businesses."
