MVV Umwelt is the third largest operator in Germany’s EfW sector, currently working with 22 municipalities and districts in five federal states, to manage and dispose of the waste of more than 4.4 million people across the country.
Its flagship plant at Leuna, in eastern Germany, has been expanded, and together with other facilities, such as those at Mannheim and Offenbach, MVV now has the capacity to deal with 1.6 million tonnes of waste per year.
MVV’s three EfW plants have established CHP and district heating off-takes, bringing first hand experience of operating high efficiency EfW facilities to the UK.
The experience in the fields of design, planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the corresponding power plants is concentrated in the subsidiary company MVV O&M GmbH. MVV O&M is the operator of the power plants of MVV Umwelt and other clients.
